Educating Communities
In 2018, the Imperial County Public Health Department was granted funding by the California Department of Public Health through Proposition 56 (Tobacco Tax) to establish a Local Oral Health Program. With guidance from the California Department of Public Health’s Office of Oral Health, the Imperial County Local Oral Health Program focused on the formation of an Oral Health Taskforce, completion of a local Oral Health Needs assessment, a Community Health Improvement Plan as well as an Oral Health Evaluation Plan.
The Imperial County Oral Health Taskforce convenes quarterly to assist in conducting activities at a local level to support the California Oral Health Plan which aims to improve the oral health of all Californians through prevention, education, and organized community efforts.
